Periodontal Surgery
Have you been diagnosed with periodontal disease? When the tissue that surrounds the teeth area is unrepairable (even with non-surgical treatment) your periodontist will recommend dental surgery.
Pocket Depth Reduction
Ideally, a patient’s gum tissue and bone should fit around the teeth like a well-fitted glove. When a person is diagnosed with periodontal disease, the bone and the tissue is severed. As a result, pockets begin to form around the teeth.
If left untreated, the pockets become so deep that bacteria begins to fill the pockets. As a result, a person can experience additional tissue and bone loss. When an excessive amount of bone is lost, the teeth will eventually need to be removed.
